Detailed Ogallala Instructions

If I weren't going to buy the Ogallala Bay Rum sampler because it's a fantastic soap, I would buy it for this product description.

(quoted for posterity)
We have been asked a zillion times....well ok, maybe a dozen... if we'd put together a Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum Shaving Soap Sampler. (Say that 5 times fast!) So here ya go! What we have here is 1 small puck each of: Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum Shaving Soap Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood Shaving Soap Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar Shaving Soap Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum, Limes & Peppercorns Shaving Soap Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum & Lemon Grass Shaving Soap and our newest addition...Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum & Sweet Orange Shaving Soap Each of these 6 little pucks is about 2 & 3/4 inches in diameter and about an ounce or so. Now, they'll fit ANY mug cause all you have to do is put one of these in a microwave safe dish for about 10 seconds and melt it down, pour in your mug, and let it cool. For goodness sakes, let it cool! Trust me you don't want THAT hot a lather! You ought to get several shaves out of each little puck so you can decide which ones you want to order the full size version of! They come individually wrapped in a bag. Now we are gonna give you a little tip here. Even though you can get a REAL nice lather from this soap, here's what we like to do. Whip this stuff up into a THICK lather. Not fluffy. So when it is fluffy, keep whippin' a bit till it is really thick, ...almost paste like. Then apply to your whiskers (which hopefully you have already splashed with warm water). It should look sorta like stage makeup when applied to your face. Kinda like a danged mime. (I hate mimes.....but you gotta do what ya gotta do.) Then shave away..... man, afterwards you have yourself one of those shaves where ya keep running your hand over your face cause you can't believe how smooth it is. Now in a perfect world you won't be the only one doin' that...but you're on your own there. All Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum Shaving Soaps have superior lubricating qualities for, what we feel, is about as good as it gets for a clean comfortable shave. And then there is that fantastic fragrance! We have heard of people lathering up a couple more times a day without shaving just for the great scent it leaves on your face! And we suspect it will leave a smile on the Mrs.' face! Oh yeah. If you're a mime. Sorry for the comment up above a ways. Sort of.

I will say that it is a different beast to lather for sure. Bought a couple pucks awhile back and couldn't get a good lather. You've gotta keep whipping it up even after you think you've given it all you've got. Then it suddenly produces copious amounts of very nice thick lather.

I think I've got it now.

Nice pic, but if I were making that lather I'd say it is slightly too dry. I've give it a little more water. I don't like it to support itself; to me that's a recipe for "not slick enough."

As always, YMMV.

Absolutely. I started a thread asking for Ogalalla lathering instructions but I was upset enough to go after it again that night.

I was satisfied with that because I wasn't shaving. It needs more water though, for sure. I like to start pretty darn dry and then add as I go. A lot easier than trying to take water out! ;)
