He was my favorite player the second he stepped on the field. He will be missed.
Mentions of Mays, Ripken, Yaz, and Jeter, makes me think of the time a reporter asked Bum Phillips if Earl Campbell was in a class of his own. Bum's reply, "I don't know about that, but whatever class he's in, it don't take long to call roll."
How far have we come as a society that when a player manages to keep his mouth shut and not get into any significant trouble we are dumbfounded and erect monuments to him?
