Beginners want to decide between badger or horse.
What do you advise? Horse brushes are good for making the foam in the bowl?
I need a brush harder.

I don't believe horse has much of an advantage over boar, so if price is your concern, I would look to boar. If you have more money for buying a brush, you might consider badger. In either case, it's becoming clear to me that the user's preference will have more to do with whether they enjoy the brush, whether badger or boar (or horse, or nylon, etc).

Horse hair brushes are actually quite good. However, anthrax and the threat of it spreading killed off the horse hair shaves brushes for quite some time. Horsehair comes in two grades, depending on where it's harvested. The mane is softer and finer, while the tail hair is more coarse and less desirable.
