It's been a while since I've been on the forum but my move from UK to Auckland, New Zealand happened a year ago - unbelievable in a way but so much has happened (all good). My wife and I have both secured good day jobs, our son is happy in school and despite Auckland's crazy house prices we've managed to buy and settle. I even have a good shed and workshop and I'm now able to unpack properly. The scenery is stunning and the 'Kiwis' are a lovely bunch.
Anyway, I'm back into the important stuff- Razors!
One thing I've learned is that Auckland and New Zealand in general, unlike the UK, still has a manufacturing industry. I'm getting some blade blanks made and then I need to grind and hone. I'll then fit some Scales that I'll craft.
Meanwhile, I wanted to try out some scales and wondered if there are any decent blades out there 'off the peg'. I've bought a few from Pakistan, India, China but all have been unable to hold an edge.
Would you guys know of any decent blades that are worthy of making into a usable razor?
