Wilkinson Sword
First brush I got...only wet shaving product I have ever seen in a local store. Been so long I dont even remember what its like.
Omega travel model # 50014
and
Goodfellas smile/Omega # 10019

I have been seriously considering a Semogue SOC purely on what the handle looks like.

The SOC handle is very comfortable. It's one of my favorite shapes.

After seeing many posts on B&B about boar brushes, I got to thinking about the first brush I owned. I bought it from a mail-order house (remember them?), and it definitely had boar bristles. Worked great with my Old Spice soap. Don't know what happened to it, but I vaguely recall that it finally started to shed enough bristles that I discarded it. Anyway, I just ordered an Omega #10049, which will be in my Christmas stocking but available for DecemBOAR on 12/26. Men of Hog, I salute you!

I thought that wilkinson sword was a synthetic.

I think I have it myself, I may have another look now.

The Wilk Sword brush has only recently been changed to using synthetic fibres, which can be spotted by the all white knot. The one which is banded is boar.

Admiring that one at the top right, the wooden one with the darker bristles? Why are the bristles darker? Just a photo thing or like a bleached/unbleached bristle thing? It's nice.. I don't need another boar though. I...... don't need another boar though.

Excited, it's later this week! I've decided to switch over to the Jade, it's been a good run with the essentials, I think I'll prob get another shave on it this week before the flip over.

A while ago I disposed of all my boar bristle brushes. Of course, I regretted it later. I just ordered two Semogues (Galahad and 830). I will celebrate their opening by joining Decemboar this year. Happy Decemboar to all!

I read somewhere that you should alternate brushes every other day so the brush has a chance to dry completely? My boar brush seems to be totally dry by next day but I went ahead and ordered another because "why not?" and didn't realize how much larger this one would be. The black one has had about 3 weeks of daily use. I've only had the red a few days but I've run it thru several soak cycles (the pig smell was strong with this one) and towel rubbing so it's nearly broken in already and smells fine now. I haven't figured out what advantage (or disadvantage?) of the longer bristles.

I am browsing Italian Barber right now for a Semogue brush. Recommendations for a face latherer with sensitive skin are appreciated.

Have you tried the Mistura? Great brush and super soft. But my fav boar for softness without floppiness are the unbleached boars by Zenith at yourshaving.

Team dehumidifier checking in.

Basically I place my brush on the dehumidifier when drying our laundry.

Whether that is as effective as towl drying at causing split ends, I don't know.

But i am losing fewer hairs now so...

Yes, you need at least a dozen boars to make certain that they have time to dry.

My wife has always said that I'm a "Great Boar" (sp?), so I'm in.

I have a modest collection of Omega and Semogue medium sized brushes. I ordered the Razorock version of the Olive wood versions of the 506 boar, so will be breaking that in during our Decemboar time together.
