I am in!
Yes, and also turn n shave.Doesn't TGN have them?
Great review for a first time boar user!I received my Semogue 610 today as the first pig in the pen. This was probably fortuitous because I have no experience with boar and the rest that are coming are vintage. I don't want to wreck a vintage one.
Anyway, I gave it a soak in warm water and a shampoo. I spent some time in my lather bowl without soap hoping to speed up the break in. These things are stiff when new, but surprisingly not scritchty. I only got a few hairs to split and only lost one early on. No smell is a plus.
I decided the only right thing to do was go for the Marco method and load it drenching wet, I have never done this before. I had no trouble figuring out how much soap to load except it is a bit messy. After getting it in the lather bowl, I worked it excessively trying to break in the brush. I only had to add a tiny bit of water. The real surprise was painting it on, it's different than high end badger. Not in a bad way, more like synthetic. That is probably partially due to the ends not being split yet.
Everything went great, I had the same 4th pass amount to squeeze out just like usual. That just goes on my face, then off. I assume this will get even better with time. As it is, I can see myself recommending boar above synthetic to new or budget shavers. As long as the person gets a quality pig otherwise the synthetic might be longer lived. I am looking forward to seeing how my vintage pigs go when they get here!

I would pick the jade boar from Connaught.4 more days to go... So there is still enough time to open a can of worms...:
Question to all participants:
With a gun pointed to your head: which boar brush is your all time favourite?
Remember the gun - just name one!
Darn you, darn you, I don't need another brush! I just took a look.I would pick the jade boar from Connaught.
