December 2024 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

I'm out.

I've had a rare occasion to buy two 30 pcs tucks of Schick AC blades for a very attractive price. These blades have interested me for quite some time, as they have a strong followship amongst AC shavers.

For reasons unknown to me these blades are unobtainious in continental Europe (importing these blade from Japan or the UK isn't an option, it would be ridiculously expensive due to shipping costs and import sale tax fees), so when I got the chance to buy them of Germany I decided to pull the trigger.

I've already entered my name for 2025 GRUYERE and I'll go for a 30/31 approach this month.

Brian, it's time for a rollcall... @FoolishMortal

JAHE out 😉

Roll call, eh?
Well, if you have to fall off the wagon, I'd say its hard to argue with @JAHE 's reasoning. A venial sin at worst, IMO.

Day 6, Shave #3
Still IN

Decided to try and squeeze one more shave out of that Nacet, and while it wasn't a bad shave, it wasn't great, either. Somewhere between DFS and CCS.

I've also decided that SV's Stella Alpina isn't my cup of tea, despite my wife liking it -- just a bit too floral for my tastes.

Razor: Yates Winning Titanium
Blade: Nacet (7)
Pre-shave: Castle Forbes
Brush: Simpson Colonel
Bowl: Timeless injection-mold
Soap: Castle Forbes Lavender Cream

Aftershave: SV Stella Alpina

GRUME shave #3.

Office Christmas dinner this evening. Every item in this photo brings me joy and makes for a stellar shave.

Software needs little introduction.

Brush: Asylum/Semogue Mistura
Razor: Herder ♠️ 8/8

Tonight’s dinner is also my farewell to a 40+ year career. It’s time for the next chapter which I eagerly await. For the first time since the late ‘70s, I am not employed.

Congratulations! A new and exciting chapter in your life awaits you. Enjoy it!

Day 6, 19.4% complete

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat (Tallow)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: RR Lupo .72 SB, UFO Handle, Astra SP #8
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

I got my Lupo, so decided to try the .72 plate first. I used the blade out of the Game Changer.

There's slightly more blade feel than the Game Changer, but nothing obtrusive. It was efficient. I skipped the ATG on my neck, but it did a good enough job with one pass.

The cutaway head corners make it more agile than the GC.

The UFO handle looks good and is ergonomic, but heavier than my usual favourites.

Notes:

Saturday Bliss. Two amazing razors ready for an amazing shave.

Still in and likely done with buying razors. I am on one waiting list - or actually waiting for the order itself (pre Decemboar and I will get it for my birthday next year) and just received a message from another brother that he’s sending me the final one from my wish list: the infamous Ikon Tek. Excited to say the least.

Wishing you a wonderful shave today!
