DE razors in Pakistan

New shaver here,
Guys my dad has been using DEs and as a child that was the razor I knew. Now that I need one for myself, there is so much multi blade every where. Noone knows of DEs other than what they use themselves if they do.
Hiw do you get your hands on a DE in pak.
I am in lahore.
A real nice DE. Imports even, merker and otheers, but where.

If you have any friends or family members in the UK you could get one of them to order a razor for you from one of the many on-line retailers like Connaught Shaving or Executive Shaving, then post it on to you. That might be easier and cheaper than trying to order direct from such a company. My choice would be an Edwin Jagger DE89L razor, but ones by Merkur and Muhle are also good. Anyways, good luck in your search.

Welcome to B&B.

You will find many friendly and helpful people hang out on B&B. Get to know folks and good things will happen.

There are many websites in Europe that I'm sure would ship a razor to you. I also recommend and Edwin Jagger D89 or a Muhle R89 as a starter razor. Mild enough to be gentle for a beginner but efficient enough to use the rest of your life. Here are a couple of websites for you to check that I have personally used with great service.

The Italian Barber is obviously in Italy. Shaving.ie is in Ireland. Both have great prices and more choices than anyone could ever need.

DE razors seem to me to be pretty common in the whole Middle East area. Unfortunately they are usually very cheaply made Chinese ones. I have found them all over the Persian Gulf region and mostly in Indian shops or shops catering to Indian, Indonesian, Pakistani, etc workers, so I would guess that they are commonly used in India and also in your country. But I take it you are looking for something more solid and higher quality. If I were you I would watch ebay for a good vintage Gillette. A Tech can often be found for $5 or less. A SuperSpeed for $10 or so, a Lady Gillette (don't let the name bother you... they are good men's face shavers, too) for $15 or so, and if you want an adjustable, you might find a Super Adjustable for as little as $25 and a little more could get you a Slim Adjustable. The shipping would actually probably be more than the cost of the razor.

As for locally finding a DE razor I would avoid the brightly lit big box supermarket or department store type shops and try the older shops that don't have huge advertising and marketing programs or big corporate affiliations. The reason is that there is more profit in selling disposables or cartridges and the big box stores would rather discourage you from using a DE. They want you to buy cartridges and throwaways and they want you to keep coming back and buying more of them. The not so sparkling shops in the older parts of town are more likely to have what their customers want, instead of telling the customers what they should buy.

The Gillette 7 O'clock Green blades should be pretty easy to find in Lahore. Your choice of blade is probably more important than your choice of razor and the 7:00 Greens are pretty good blades, and not too expensive either. Watch out for the cheap Chinese DE blades. They are pretty dodgy and to me it is punishment to have to shave with some of them. The only place I have been in Pakistan is Karachi and since I shave with straight razors I didn't have reason to look for blades or DE razors there.

I just read an article about how India is the worlds largest consumer of DE products with a half billion users. I bet you can dredge up some cool stuff at any local bazaar. Is there trade between India and Pakistan, I am uninformed on the subject.

Gillette 7 o clock ( cheap DE with metal head, base plate and plastic handle) is made in India under the name Gillette Sterling.
It is available in all most all of south Asian countries. Try out some shops selling men's perfumes and shaving gear or supermarkets. This is a mild razor. One will cost around $1/- in the region.
