DE blade maintenance

I've done a search for this but haven't come up with anything so if there are previous threads which discussed the topic feel free to point me to them for answers.

I'm curious what if anything you do to maintain a DE blade during its lifetime. I normally rinse thoroughly then dry the whole razor on a towel making sure I am wiping the edge of the blade not shaving with it. This seems to work OK and the razor/blade generally is reasonably clean when I go to change blades after 3-4 shaves.

Any thing else I should be doing to extend the number of good quality shaves I get from a blade? I'm not really looking to save money on blades, only to get the best shave I can out of each blade before I toss it.

Thanks.

I'm sure others will chime in, but all I do is rinse it well the dry it off. Sometimes I blow some of the moister out too. I do a two pass shave and a blade will last me between 3 to 5 shaves.

I dip my razor, complete with the blade in Barbicide. It cleans everything off of it. I usually leave it in for about 15 minutes or really until I finishe getting ready and brushing my teeth.

I give my blades a gentle bath and dry them with only the finest Egyptian cotton. Then I read them a story and tuck them snugly into the tiny little beds I make for each one.

I just pat 'em dry and pop it back into an open razor until tomorrow.

I learned my lesson. Got a light rust spot on one of my blades due to just shaking it out. I now pat them dry and set it back in my open TTO or just set it on the head of my 3 piece.
