DE Blade count

I have recently received 22 DE Blades. The May newbie PIF.
Thanks @dmshaver.

looking forward to trying these different blade.
I have a question, I shave daily, I have a Feather blade and either Astra - Wilkinson sword or Derby. A blade will last me over 1 week then I change to a different one.

I have seen on YouTube some people mark the blade wrapper so they know how many uses.

I may adopt this as I want to experience the different blades without waiting till I need to chanhe.

What is your routine?

That can work but keeping a spreadsheet may be better so you can grade and then order your favourite blades when you next make a bulk order.
Good idea, I have time to run a spreadsheet. Will also helpful as you suggest to grade each blade for future reference.

...but this one IS cracked.
Like @Dave himself I remove the blade and wash it, pat it dry and return it to the wrapper. I used to put a dot on it to indicate the number of shaves, but as my technique improved and I started getting 20+ shaves from a blade (recently got 73 from one) I stopped doing that, but I track it by posting daily to the 365 shaves forum.

I don’t do anything to the blade because there’s nothing to do. Shave, rinse, set aside for tomorrow. 51 years of shaving with no problems.

I use a die to keep track of the number of shaves: 3 for DE’s, 6 for Schick injectors.

Spreadsheets?!?!

Maybe some of these will help:

At the moment I change blades every Sunday (7 shaves, daily shaver).

If the blade doesn’t feel right, I change it.

I tried the excel spreadsheet and it works well. I went from logging my shaves every day to enter the data when I’m changing blade (using the same setup).

I also had a pile of soaps where I had a control soap (shave 1) and I would stack my soaps on top of that one until I changed the blade. I could then count how many shaves from the control soap regardless of the order of the other soaps.

Some use an app where you can have multiple clickers if you change razors without changing the blade.

Some use a dice. Some make a dot with a marker on the blade or the wrapper.

I change razor when I’m done with the blade.

My Shave Den app tracks everything not only blade use but all other hardware and software you use.

You can even get statistical graph if you want. No marking, no remembering needed. It logs everything for you.

I have good blade assortment, having mild beard, blades last minimum 5 shaves.

I can feel when blade is getting dull, than I replace.
