What's new

David Beckham/Clint Eastwood

Yeah, Beckham's voice is.... :redface: .... is he connected to a helium tank? have "they" still not descended?
My girlfriend use to think he was "so cute" until she he heard him speak. :eek: She can't stand him now... and the gawdy tattoos ain't helping.

Actually if Beckham had Sam Elliot's voice he would be cool. Eastwood sounds like a little girl compared to Elliot.:lol:

As a figure of manhood I would say no. For me to pick someone as the perfect figure of such he would have to be about the exact medium, or mix if you will, of all men in the world.

As a symbol of what I would like to call "the perfect man" and as such subsequently how I would look if I were to create myself. None of the two people mentioned would be my mold.

Sure, it'd would be impossible to personify everyone's ideal of the 'perfect man'. My point is that I was very disappointed when I first heard Beckham's voice.

I'm sure he speaks very highly of my own attributes, however! lol

Linford Christie, the Olympian is another case in point. I always imagined that such a powerful figure would have a voice like Barry White. But hearing him talk in a radio interview, he has a soft, gentle voice. Very mellow and refined. I guess it's not a good idea to go with pre-conceptions.

I need the CONUK group to chime in here. WHen living in the UK I noticed MANY different accents and so on. I also noted lighter and gentle voices in certain regions. Perhaps it is a bit regional.

I like football and Becks was a very good player but he is so corporate even his image is a bit depressing. He actually seems like a good egg , likeable sort of guy but in the end its all about Brand Beckham and there just is not anything substantial underlying it.

Its definitely a modern change for the better that his manhood/image is discussed in terms of his looks, tats, hair , style, athleticism than if he was a huntin, fishin, smokin, hard drinkin, workholic lady killer ,that traditional image, but still he's manufactured.

I'm old school , you say the image of manhood, I think Socrates, Diogenes,Jefferson, King, Chomsky, Pericles, Marx, Bertrand Russell , Cornel West, the late Edward Said. A man to me stands for something substantial, fights on behalf of the oppressed , challenges established truths of the day and injustices of his time, with integrity and for no other reason than its simply the right thing to do.

:smile:
He's a soccer player. :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Becks will leave his sport with his all his teeth, a unbroken body, good looks, and marbles intact. Boxers, hockey players, NFL personnel, ultimate fighters can't say that. Becks may not be the toughest sportsman but maybe the smartest though.
