Dating NDC Tech Question

It arrived!! My Fat Handle Tech!! I probably overpaid on the Bay as it cost $21.50 after everything. But I wanted something specific and I found it! Its a darn near mint NDC Nickel Fat Handle Tech with the triangular slots, with the box and blades:thumbup:!!

I do have a question though. I know these aren't dated but can the blades be used to date it. The pack of blades has 2 used and 3 still in paper all date code J 2. I have looked at MR Razor and the writing exactly matches his blade wrap from 1941 L 3, if this is right that would make mine from 1939. Is it safe to assume the razor is probably(+/- a qtr) made 1939?

Heres the pics enjoy!!

Thanks Guys!

I wish the box was still attached top and bottom, and I kinda wish the blades hadn't been opened. Asking to much I guess:lol:. It will give me a reason to explain to the wife that I NEED a unopened NOS pack of 1939 gillette Blue Blades, to maintain the value:thumbup:. Its in good enough shape when you first feel the knurling it sticks to your fingers like touching velcro. I know even steel doesn't retain that slight burr/sharpness for long with handling. It goes well with my Ranger Tech.

I can almost imagine someone getting this for Bday/Xmas 1939 and being used a couple times then resigned to the drawer because it didn't shave worth a damn compared to his New? Goodwill? Straight?

well the triangle holes put it from 1938-1945 and if what i've read is correct and gillette didn't make any razors for the civilian market from 1942-1945 it would narrow it down to 1938-1941.... so 1939 is very much a possibility

also my tech (also a fat handle) came with the same style box... just in rougher shape and no blades (unless you count the R 4 blue blade that was in the razor... which i'm assuming wasn't one of the 5 that came with it)
