Any chance that you/they'll do an event in the Washington DC area? I'm in need.

Throughout the '70s, into the early '80s, I'd have a barber shave every month or so. In '84, my wife and I moved to a new area due to a career change. I managed to locate a pretty decent barber shop and after a couple of months, I inquired about getting a shave.

The shop went silent. There was a look of horror on all the barbers' faces.

It was evident that they really didn't have their hand in the practice any longer. As I had been waiting for awhile, I looked at my watch, offered that, well, I really didn't have the time on this trip. Their sense of relief was palpable. It was apparent that barbers had pretty much ceased doing shaves. That was the last time I ever asked for a shave from a barber.

That was 22 years ago, and barbering has declined to hair care only. A few years ago, we moved to the Washington DC area, and I simply haven't sought out a proper barber for a shave. Even after several years, I don't even feel I've yet found a decent barber for a haircut. It's sad really. I guess that the shaving practice isn't profitable.

Most enjoyable shaves were accompanied by fellowship, product sampling, and an assortment of Talisker single malt and blended Scotch. I highly recommend the Distillers Edition!
