D.R. Harris Scents?

IMightBeWrong

Loves a smelly brush
I know there's been a lot discussed regarding this topic. I have been considering trying them but haven't bitten the bullet yet. I like that they are a hard soap with tallow. I am just curious as to how the scents are described. I like a very natural scent, i.e. Mike's Natural Soaps with EO, but I like a hard soap as well. I know that Harris makes men's fragrances, but do their soaps smell more like a cologne-like fragrance or could they be described as having a natural smell? I just don't like the smell of something that seems very contrived and manufactured. What does Harris soap actually smell like? Can anybody let me know how they compare in smell to Mikes?

You can get samples from Garry's Sample Shop.

Garry's is great. I only have DR Harris Arlington. It is a floral/fruity smell, maybe with a little something "green" to it, not very cologne like at all, to me anyway.

I find that they are cologne-like; not so strong, but definitely good. I find that Marlborough was meh, but Arlington and Windsor were great. Very similar to my nose. I also found that the shave cream was surprising hard as well, more like a croap. TOBs is very runny in comparison.

Think of Mike's Barbershoppe/Lily of the Valley in terms of complexity, but not as floral.

I think if you do some poking around here all of the D.R. Harris' scents have been well-discussed. The latest entry, Windsor, maybe not as much, but definitely Arlington and Marlborough as those are age-old.

I have a few Harris soaps. The lavender is my go to sops above every other soap brand.

I am not a fan of the almond though. It's got more of a musty smell to me.

I only have the Arlington, and I have a Windsor on the way. At first smell, I did not like the Arlington, but after lathering it and putting on my face, the scent changed for me and I love the smell...I use it more than any of my soaps..so far...but I like the citrus, crisp scents...not into the leather, musk-like scents.

I have the lavender soap. It's a great shave. I do find the sent pleasant, but very mild. If you're looking for a powerful sent, this ain't it. But if want a great soap with mild, pleasant Lavender sent, go for it.

Windsor is probably one of my favorite soaps and scents. I have tried Arlington (too sweet) and Almond (pleasant and bitter). I am curious about Marlborough and Lavender (love lavenders) and still have yet to try those. If the lavender scent is mild like so many others are describing, I probably won't enjoy it as much since I prefer stronger lavender scents.

ckang79, my personal take on D.R. Harris lavender is that it is not so much mild as it is floral. Where some lavenders have a strong herbal presence, D.R. Harris does not. I like the D.R. Harris lavender very much.

If you like heavy lavender scents, give Mystic Waters Wild Lavender a try. It's by far the strongest lavender i've ever smelt.

I smelled the Windsor, Arlington, and Marlborough while I was in Pasteur's. The Windsor and Arlington are somewhat similar. Marlborough is a very manly smelling, kind of winter scent. I ended up purchasing Windsor, it smelled the best to me. Arlington was a close second though.
