Czech & Speake, Oxford & Cambridge, Huge letdown.

The scent is quintessentially English, containing a blend of English and French lavender, topped with herbaceous peppermint, rosemary and bergamot on a base of warm oak moss.

Im probably gonna catch some heat for for this, but my question is,..has anyone else here been let down by this fragrance? The opening and middle are quite herbaceouse, and I do pickup some rosemary, but overall this , in my opinion, is just another A.F Fierce, clone. The similarities between the two are unmistakable.

I've never tried AF Fierce so I can't speak to that. I love the opening of O&C - the herbaceous blast of lavender and peppermint is great. And peppermint, rather than the more common vanilla to balance the lavender, makes this feel more icy and refreshing in the summer. My problem with O&C is that there's not much there beyond the open. A faint hint of the opening mixed with oakmoss but I don't get more than an hour or so out of this frag. Hard to buy a bottle for that.

I can't stand A&F Fierce. It's easily one of my least favorite fragrances, ever.

There's a word often repeated in internet posts claiming "dirty" when talking about O&C.
I don't see it. I'm sorry.
I think that O&C is a bit of acquired taste, but nevertheless an above average frag especially if one is enclined to lavender fragrances. I can understand your ambivalence and an oakmoss dilemma. Don't worry about it. Try Antiheros or Caron PuH. Former is woodier very long lasting beautiful expression of lavender and later is a spicier, and more muskier lavender take on lavender. That might resolve your vanilla dilemma. Antiheros is a key word.
BTW O&C fragrances have great staying power.

I was slightly disappointed with O&C at first, but it has grown on me and now I like it. I don't love it, but I do like it and appreciate it for what it is.

BTW - O&C pre-dates Fierce by 8 years.

O&C is, however, one of the scents I can think of that I affirmatively did not like at first that absolutely grew on me. I think it was the peppermint that through me off. But now I find that accord brilliant in this scent. Have always been a big lavender fan. Josh is right to my nose re "refreshing and masculine."

I respect Antiheros more than love it. Caron PuH is a true classic, but does not blow me away the way O&C does.

Re tenacity, those who think they are not getting any tenacity out of this scent might try spraying some just on the back of a hand and sniffing that spot over the course of a day. I thought I was not getting much tenacity with this scent, but have surmised that like many lavenders to my nose, it is easy to become acclimated to it.
