CVH Royal Kindal Rescale In Vintage Bone

Here is a 13/16 Royal Kindal I got last week. It was in decent shape but had shallow pitting and staining all over it. Had beat up plastic MK scales on it when I got it, so I found some vintage homemade bone scales that I had.

They still had the saw marks on the inside of the scales from who ever made them. Also they had a name and a date carved into the back scale. It says "Dineen ..." And "10-4/11" below it. Also I used a lead wedge from another set of old scales.

Pretty happy with the results. Still has some pitting on the upper portion near the spine but I can live with that.

Saved enough of the etching to tell it's a Royal Kindal. But it's faint. The black stuff on the edge is permanent marker I forgot to wipe off.

Matt, I love the use of the old scales! A question though, why double washers?

The old lead wedge wasn't quit wide enough and the outside of the tang was hitting the scales and causing it not to sit properly. Doubled up on the washers to spread the scales out a little more.
