Forum rules prohibit appraisals or valuations - best advise is to search completed ebay listing for similar items and be guided by the sales history.

As long as you just want info you are fine. Maybe someone else has more knowledge. Asking for a valuation to sell is what we frown upon.

It is nice that it has wedges for each day of the week, and that you can read the day it's intended for as well.

Oh ok tnx for the help so far. If its indeed quite rare i would try to perhaps restore or clean at as good as possible and keep it as some sort of relic. About Ebay I would like to do that but at Ebay and such I find nothing more than flip blades when i look with the same search terms. Perhaps I am looking with the wrong search terms? Perhaps i should put it up there just to see the reaction.

A search on eBay for heljestrand, selecting "completed items", showed a few of these sets with their sale prices. Probably much of the info that exists about them is likely in this thread.

aha i didn't know you could do that now i see some similars indeed

Yours is a first generation version, now about a minimum of 100 years old. I just picked up a minimalist cased set with razor, henckels blade and a very nice case on ebay for what I thought was a good price. The first generation versions are pretty scarce compared to the second generation units. First generation units are typically silver plated.

Hi all. Trying to find some more information about C.V. Heljestrand Safety Razors, I found this very interesting article with an extraordinary and exhaustive investigation mostly performed by Rwoodreno with the enrichment and contribution of many of you guys, over a couple of years, So that is why I got motivated to writte share with you my most recent finding. Well here I go... I spend over a year outside of America, So I soon as I got back went into Etsy and found an incredibly scarce antique C.V. Heljestrand brand safety razor. This is a wedge blade safety razor, made in Eskilstuna, Sweden and dates to the late 1890's or so.

The razor is a beautiful specimen and in exceptional condition for its age - in fact, it looks like it was rarely used (if ever). The multi-section handle has an ornate etched floral scroll design, along with the CVH initials. The base of the handle has an additional section that can be attached - this section can accommodate a wedge blade for edge work. The razor has a great comb design and the blade clamp still functions very well. The razor has its original CVH logo wedge blade.

When fully assembled the razor measures 6.5" in total length. The razer is truly in great condition with no visible condition issues. It has been extremely well preserved and taken care of over the years.

This travel razor disassembles to be conveniently stored in its original nickel plated tin. The tin itself has a beautifully etched Heljestrand logo on the front and the interior still has its original tissue paper packing. The tin measures 2.25" in height and 1.5" in diameter. The tin itself is in great condition showing minimal wear - some scratching and minor dents to the lid being the primary issues.

I asked the guy who sold it to me to share the history about it and here is the reply.... - I bough the razor about 6-7 years ago from a vendor that I know very well at a local antique show.

When I purchased it, I asked the vendor about it's history. It came from the estate of an elderly gentleman who passed away in Marin County, California. He was a collector of antique grooming items - he had a variety of porcelain shaving basins, badger fur shaving brushes, shaving mugs, and mustache cups. Oddly enough, he didn't have many razors in his collection - I believe just the occasional piece or two for display. It was clear the gentleman gravitated toward quality collectibles - there were many beautiful items from the estate.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, Welcome you all.....
