Cuts on upper lip

Any suggestions on how to prevent small nicks and cuts on the upper lip? I have tried shaving w/ and against but I still manage a few cuts.

thanks, david

I usually end up cutting my lips on the XTG pass, so I usually avoid it and go for a slow and precise ATG instead. Then again that's just me YMMV

I think that's the easiest place to get cuts (or at least it is for me, too). I do two WTG passes and then ATG with a VERY light touch in order to avoid cuts, and I still do get a nick there on occasion. I also find it very helpful to pull the skin tighter by moving my nose up and out of the way with my free hand.

Good luck and enjoy the shaves!

I find that going XTG works for me, also using blade buffing XTG is also good. Remember you have to find what works best for you. Try making goofy faces, pulling the skin in that area taught, pushing your tongue under the lip, puffing the area out with air. With all these remember, NO PRESSURE. All these things work for me, but find whats best for you. Good luck.   :001_rolle:thumbup1::a5:

When you find what works best for you then work on your technique. It gets easier as you go.

I almost never cut myself on the lip. the only time this happens is if i'm being rushed by the wife. I always go ATG and never too fast. slow and easy works for me

You should not move a lip muscle while doing a stroke. That is the best advice I can give.

It's not been mentioned yet, but if you lather is anything less than great, you are going to receive cuts to your upper lip. I have been DE shaving for close to 3 months, and still frequently nick my upper lip.

I am fine shaving WTG (top to bottom), and XTG (nose to check), but if I am not extremely careful doing ATG (bottom to top) I will get nicks.
