custom scales

Do scales need to sort of be custom fit to the width of the blade? I'd like to replace the scales on a razor of mine but cant really seem to find any scales for sale and wouldn't know how to tell if they would fit my blade. Any info would be greatly appreciated or if anyone out there makes scales pm me.

The Superior Shave used to have quite a few sets for sale, don't see them anymore.
I have bought some from here, they were decent to deal with:

These say good for between 4/8-6/8 blade, I imagine that's the case with most of them:

You might check with some of the Hobbyist's here about making you some, you'll end up with a better product. I'm no pro but I will make you a set if you like, pm me for details.

Or, if you really want to jump down a rabbit hole look at some of the resto threads and make your own. Here's a good place to start:

Steve at theinvisibleedge.co.uk has scales for sale.

most are wood and come with 2 pin sets just in case you stuff the first one up.

OR......... come join us down the rabbit hole.:scared:

Hey otto76 thanks for the link to the resto forum. It was very informative. I'm popping into this plastics factory tomorrow to look for some nice acrylic.

Look for sheet acrylic at Lowe's. It will be in the lighting section. Also you can cut up an acrylic clipboard.

Good to know, I wasn't aware Lowe's carried that. I've been ordering all mine online.
