That's interesting. #00 series stainless steel is the only series stainless steel that does not rust....and it's non-magnetic. Apparently our stainless steel blades are not made from 300 series stainless steel.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that 300 series stainless steel is able to be sharpened to the degree that razors need to be. I had some 300 series aviation stainless steel I tried to turn into a knife and I could not get it sharp enough to be even a mediocre blade (the edge would wear down- it just couldn't be sharp). As a side note, all of my stainless steel pistols are magnetic. I guess it is just a case that to get one set of characteristics, you have to accept another set of limitations.
