I do not own a shavemac brush, so I can't compare directly. I do own a Thater 49125/1 which is a pretty nice brush and the TGN knot is the perfect balance between the Thater and my boar brush. I have a 26mm Finest XH knot in a custom brush that is set at 50mm loft. Great combination of soft tips and backbone. Very dense but still lets the lather flow. The Thater is almost too soft, absolutely no scritch, just like a cloud on your face. The boar knots have so much backbone, you know it is working. The TGN knot is right in the middle. Works great with the hardest soaps or creams. I have owned 3 different types of knots from TGN (Finest, Grade A slivertip, Super Silvertip) and the two brushes with Finest knots are the only ones I still have.
