Curious about textile part of "Classic Shaving" strop.

I am wondering if anyone uses the brown textile part of the Classic Shaving strop. It is more like a seat belt or a nylon shoulder strap than anything else. Is there something I need to know about using it properly? Looks mighty rough to drag a razor across. Sorry for my ignorance.

While I am a fan of the classic shaving latigo strop, I am not a fan of the cloth portion. I swapped mine out for a flax linen component. I have not seen the flax linen for sale as a separate piece lately. If it were me I would use the Classic shaving cloth as a pasted strop.
