CrOx on the back?

I have a Whipped Dog "Poor Man's Strop", along with the balsa he sends with a Sight Unseen kit.

Is there any reason I shouldn't put CrOx on the BACK of this strop and use that instead of the balsa?

Smooth the leather out if it is a bit rough (you can use wet/dry sandpaper - clean the leather off afterwards). One problem with putting CrO2 on the back is that you might get a slight contamination or the strop may leave smudges on whatever you have it hanging on. Otherwise, I would think it would be fine.

If you have the balsa with the crox there's no need to use the back of the strop. As Dan stated, there is a risk of contaminating the front of the strop.
