Critique my (smallish) brush collection

I have a small, relatively inexpensive brush collection that works well for me and provides good variety both with soaps and creams, though I am mostly a soap user. I both face lather and bowl lather, depending on the mood.

Following is what I have:

- Boar: SOC Ash, Mighty Midget
- Horse: Vie Long Zurrito, bestshave.net turkish brush.
- Badger - WD Silvertip in 24 and 20.
- Synthetic - HJM 21mm.

What do you think? Am I missing anything?

There are all sorts of brushes that you might try later, but you look like you've got your bases covered pretty darn well.

It sounds like an interesting collection - variety is the spice of life! Sometime you might consider adding a scritchy 2-band badger.

Some will have more brushes, but you have all the bases covered.
Good job! You're set for any circumstance.

Maybe a dedicated travel brush? Several variants on this: a turn back such as the Simpson Major, a small brush with travel tube, such as the Simpson Wee Scot, Simpson Case or Omega MM, or a brush in a metal tube. The two broad variants of this latter are a brush that drops down into the tube (such as Muehle offers), and when removed screws into one end of the tube, or one like the Da Vinci which retracts into its own sleeve. As you can see, lots of room for further growth of your herd!

P.s. For something more exotic, there's always goat hair make-up brushes re-purposed for shaving. And we haven't even begun to consider all the different brands, much less restored vintages and other forms of DYI. Heaven forbid we should be so unkind as to mention custom brushes from B&B vendors, exotic handles in stone, bone, horn or vintage ivory, rare woods, silver and etc. Nope, you're not out of the woods by a long shot.:001_wub:

This is where it's easy to move into crazy price territory. The M&F blonde badgers are good value for money IMO. You could consider a custom D01 2-band that Rudy Vey can arrange or production Simpsons if you're willing to spend serious money.

You have more brushes than 99% of shavers out in the real world and your collection works for you. Well done!
