Smoking a corn dog in aviators and a top hat
Saw this at work last weekend. I'm not well-versed in bugs, but it was big. About 2" long.
That looks like it. I sure wasn't going to mess with it.Looks like a giant water bug, AKA the toe biter. Be careful around those, they can give quite the bite. They prey on animals as large or larger than themselves such as small fish, tadpoles, frogs, and even some reports of small snakes and baby ducks and turtles!
Giant water bugs eat turtles, ducklings, and even snakes
Masked chafer I think. The adult of one of the variety of grubs that eat your lawn-if you dig or pour soap water in an opened ended can and let it soak in the soil and find grubs emerging, you can positively id them by looking at their raster pattern

Thanks, i'd say you nailed it, google found me a photo that pictured the four-spots-per-side version resting on the screen door... still. One inch long by 5/8" wide, a decent size.

I didn't have one handy at the moment.
A Remington 12 gauge would work, too.I didn't have one handy at the moment.
I do have an old Model 11, but management frowns on indoor discharges.A Remington 12 gauge would work, too.
