Creaky nib

I bought a cadet that needed some work, and with some encouragement here, decided to do the work myself. I installed a new o-ring and sac, and have it in working order. It is a fairly fine point, and everything is working fine....EXCEPT....when I write with it, the nib flexes a little, and it creaks and makes noise that is fairly annoying to me. Is that normal? I haven't used one before that had a nib that makes noise, and am not sure if it OK. I hate to do too much to it, because it does flow well and it seems reasonably smooth for the style (although my experience with Cadets is very limited--this is the only one I've used). BTW, the nib is marked as SF1.
Any thoughts or ideas on this one?

does it creak, or squeak along the page, because that is normal to some pens and I dont believe there is much you can do about that other then maybe try a different ink. None of my pens has done this yet so im not sure about that

It does happen when writing, but I can just lightly flex the nib without moving it on the paper, and it creaks when I do that. I really think it is fine, but hadn't heard of this happening during my reading here. It still writes fine, but with an odd sound from the nib. I'm not sure but what something isn't quite right with the nib, but I wouldn't know unless it was obviously bent. I'll try to get some closeups of the nib this evening.

Probably a noise from the interface between the nib and section. I've also heard creaking from a loose slip fit between a friction-fit section and the barrel but since yours is threaded I figure it's not that joint.

After giving the nib a close inspection, it is obvious that the nib is messed up. The 2 sides are mismatched in height, and one seems to me missing the nib point. Bummer. Is there anything I can do to help, or was this one just a learning experience? I hate seeing an old one go out.

If the tipping material is broken off, she's a goner. You may be able to find a better nib (say a 14K gold, #33) from another broken Sheaffer, I'll look in my parts bin tonight.

Well, at least it was a good learning experience. I have no problems in replacing a sac and seal again.
