Cracked Wee Scot

This morning I reached for my Wee. I bought it about a month ago and have only used it two times. I love the brush, but I bought it alongside a Duke 2 Best and that has been my go-to morning brush. When I picked up the Wee today, I noticed a crack. I don't remember dropping it, but I certainly could have.

Do I need to worry about this crack doing damage to the knot?
Will it "creep?"
Any other concerns I should be aware of?

Thanks,

Rquisen

Boy, it shouldn't crack after just two uses. I would contact either Simpson directly or the vendor from which you purchased it and see if you have any recourse under warranty.

Remove the knot and reset it in a Vintage Ivory Turnback.

Or contact the vendor/Simpson. That shouldn't happen. I laugh at the guys with misplaced stickers and not perfectly symmetrical knots, but cracks are serious business.

I'll be honest, even if you dropped it, I can't see a wee scott cracking. The brush simply doesn't weigh enough to gain that kinda force on the way down. These plastics are decently tough... Maybe a tiny ding, or some scuffing... but crack to me says "fault in the rod it was turned from that didn't get revealed till the knot swelled and dried a couple times from use".

I know from experience that it is very difficult to crack a Wee Scot unless you are using a hammer or you drive over it with your car, maybe stepping on it could crack it if you put enough force (mass x acceleration). If you haven't done something similar to the above mentioned things then I would say it must have been defective, maybe it arrived with an unnoticeable hairline crack that has since grown...

That brush needs to be shipped back to the factory and the knot has to be set in a brand new handle. I'm sure Mark will take proper care of this.

Thanks everyone for your help and thoughts. I'll get in touch with either the vendor or Mark as soon as I can. I remember seeing Mark's contact info on here before.

As a new wet shaver, I really appreciate everyone's advice and willingness to share. Being a part of B&B truly has taken a boring daily routine and turned it into something I look forward to. Who would have ever thought I would have said that? I had a beard for over a decade because I hated shaving!

Since you bought it a month ago contact the vendor first.
They will probably take care of you right away.

The Wee Scot weighs so little, I can't imagine it cracking unless it experience a huge drop or had some preexisting defect in the handle. I'm sure the vendor/manufacturer can help you.

Why must you laugh at me? I MUST HAVE MY SYMMETRY!

Cracks in most cases are caused by too much pressure inside the hole of the handle. It is possible that the manufacturer accidentally put too much glue to fix the knot and that this did expand. I discussed this subject in the past with both Mark Watterson and Gary Young.
