Crabtree & Evelyn reintroducing full line

Crabtree & Evelyn is running a Columbus Day sale and I thought I would call and see if any creams were available. As expected, they only has the, I think?, Nomad in the tube. The good news is that the manager said that the entire line (Sienna, Nomad and Sandlewood) was being manufactured in the large jars and would be shipping sometime soon. She hoped that it would arrive before Christmas and maybe before their big fall sale in November. She did not know the dates for the fall sale but it might be worthwhile to check or get on their e-mail list. Their soaps are OK but need to get used to. They tend to take some work to lather properly. The creams lather great and work very well despite some users that feel the scent is a bit heavy.

The manager told me that the reintroduction was due to customer demand that was passed on by the brick and mortar stores. I imagine that e-mail complaints had something to do with it as well. As a practical matter, I bet they have to justify a production run with a minimum quantity of so much product that they make enough to last six months to a year. Then, when stock runs out they look at a future run based on their current business and seasonal considerations.

Good news. Any idea what the cream used to cost? Was it a similar value to their soaps?

The tubes were $15 for 3.5 oz. The jars were $25, but I don't remember the amount. I recall the tubes were a slightly better deal, $/oz.

The creams weren't bad, but IMO lacked performance in hard water relative to other creams. A reformulation in this case might not be a bad thing.

The soaps were a better value, if you could get them to lather. I couldn't - they just did not like the Dallas' water.

And no mention of the return of the Sweet Almond Oil SC or SS.

The best value they had, IMO, was their Best Badger Brush made by Edwin Jagger, and their travel brush, either one for $35. I still use my C&E BBB regularly. I'll be surprised if they bring those back.

The jars/tubs are heavy glass and expensive. Only cream I recall where the larger tub costs more per ounce than the smaller tube. Still have a bit of sandalwood left in my tub, and two new tubes under the sink! Good stuff! And, yes, really too bad that SAO isn't mentioned.
