What's new

Crabtree and Evelyn Sandalwood

I picked up a jar of this last night at an antique shop. While it wasn't sealed, its not the first soap I've bought second hand and used and for a dollar, I thought it was pretty good for a full or almost full tub (I could still see the maker's mark VERY clearly). What I'm wondering is, how well does this soap cushion normally? And how well does it moisturize? I soaped some up this morning and got an excellent lather, rich and creamy if the scent was a little lacking in the sandalwood category (though I understand the lighter scents are expected). That said, the protection of the soap itself seemed a little lacking. Any thoughts on this soap or what to expect from other C&E soaps (the antique place has a few).

I have C&E Sandalwood cream, and it has a strong sandalwood scent. And lathers very nicely. C&E Sweet Almond Oil Soap (discontinued along with the SAO cream) has a wonderful scent; light woody and almost floral. Truly wonderful!

I hesitate to really bash any products, but the sample I picked up at their store had a distinct acrid "used ashtray" note to it. I thought maybe the sample was just bad.

The AS that they gave me with it also had a very odd scent as well, but dried down to a nice sandalwood scent that went well with the cologne I applied later.

HA! John posted the above nearly the same time as I did! Really a case of YMMV it seems.
