CPAP Users Club - Discussion of life with CPAP, equipment reviews, tips.

Yeah, insurance requires data for some period of time before they will purchase the machine. Until then, I need to rent, which will be $73 monthly until my deductible is met.

I'm probably going to purchase my own travel machine outright. Just need to research a little first.
CPAP.com has the AirSense11 currently listed for around $1,000 and a Black Friday sale 30% off site-wide. If the sale applies to the AirSense11 it could be cheaper to buy it outright compared to your insurance payments. AirSense 10's are $720 before any sale discount.

When I bought my original DreamStation Ones pre-pandemic they were around $350 each versus a 30% insurance copay of a ridiculous $1,100 inflated "approved insurance DME" price. For an extras $20 I got to skip all the insurance hassles. Also, since one was a backup/travel machine it never would have qualified for insurance coverage anyway.

Just ordered the Air Mini on a Black Friday early sale. 30% off, but, I'm sure they marked it up before they discounted it. Now I'll just need to crack how to set it. Dr. ordered setting of 5-20 on my AirSense 11. I'll ask him what to set this one at.

If you ordered from CPAP.com just give them your Dr. prescription pressure and they will set it for you. Otherwise you will need to search for a provider manual. Good luck. For my machines I've downloaded copies of the provider manuals, that include instructions for setting pressure ranges, from the web.

cpap.com... getting disgusted.

I ordered an AirMini so I have something to travel with. Paid out of pocket because insurance is paying for the AirSense 11.

Six times now I have submitted my prescription (twice online, twice email attachment, twice providing doctors information) and they STILL tell me they need a prescription.

Further, they tell me they aren't sure they will be able to input the prescribed setting into the machine before (if) they ship it.

Im thinking I should just get it refunded, but, I'm not crazy about the idea of traveling with a water tank. I know I can empty it, but, theres still going to be some water in my carry on bag. Also, I assume it requires distilled water?

Does anyone travel with their 11?

There is an attachment for my air sense 10 that simply blocks the ports to and from my humidifier tank. Easy to attach or remove. I travel using that.

Try it first without the humidifier on. You may experience discomfort without the humidifier. I did.
Doc was pretty adamant about the humidifier after spelunking my nostrils... unsettling to hear a doctor say "Wow!" I don't know if it would matter to not have it for a few days, given that I haven't had one for the last two decades.

I'd really like the smaller machine, though, for ease of carry. since it has no humidifier, I guess its a wash. Or a dry bath.

Well, alrighty then.

Called cpap.com again, told them if they didn't have my order on a truck by the end of the day, I wanted a refund. Received shipping notice seven minutes later.

Weird, right?

following up on my previous post, this is the one for the AirSense 11, it looks much nicer than the one for the AirSense 10. I do know the time I need the humidifier most is in cold weather. Traveling to tropical areas I can do well without the humidifier.

Night 3 with the AirSense 11 and AirFit N30i mask. I can live with this.

I need to get an SD card so I can dig deeper into the data. Can I use any SD card or does it need special formatting?

Suddenly I've developed issues with leaks. I check the mask with the onboard diagnostics and it says I have a good seal. I suspect mouth breathing.

This has probably been my biggest issue with CPAP therapy all along.

Who uses a chin strap? Any recommendations?

I have the same problem and I choose to ignore it. As long as my events per hour are five or less I am good. I can't deal with a chin strap.

To those who use the app and actively monitor the stats it provides, how do you use that information?
I only use the AirSense app and mainly check seal and number of events. I know how long I sleep and if I woke during the night. Seal readings that are regularly bad prompt me to replace my cushion. Number of events prompts me to call my pulmonologist.
