What's new

Couple of new (to me) creams

Been in and out of drug stores the past couple of days -- one sick four-year-old and a baby born Thursday. While in said stores, I had to take a swing through the shaving sections just to check them out. :001_tongu

The Rite-Aid near the hospital had the Real Shave Company line on sale, so I got a tube of the Moisturizing shave cream for $4. Great deal, and I really like the scent and performance! Shaved with it tonight, actually. If they keep this in stock locally I'll keep a tube around, especially for warmer months. The scent is a little medicinal, but there's a musky component that really rounds it out. It performs like most of the English creams, giving a nice, creamy lather with good cushion and glide. It left my face feeling quite nice.

Walgreens had Cremo cream with a mail-in rebate that makes the cream essentially free. I lathered up a bit, but didn't shave with it. The lather seemed pretty weak, actually (maybe it's not made to lather?), but the scent was a nice, clean lemon. I mixed it with some Kiss My Face Key Lime and problem solved, perfect lather! Smelled just like Seven-Up. Worst case is I'll use the Cremo as a preshave.

Both had DE blades -- overpriced Dorcos. I don't mind the Dorcos for a two-pass shave but would never pay that kind of $$$ for a pack of 5 or 10 blades! Not when 100 are available for so cheap online.

Along with C.O. Bigelow at Bath and Body Works, Real Shaving company Moisturizing shave cream at Rite Aid is one of the few Bricks and Mortar store creams that's widely available. I find it a tad drier than Bigelow, but nothing that can't be fixed by adding a smidge more water.

I agree about the lather, it whips up easily into a thick, slick, protective lather. Regarding the scent, I can see that it has something other in it other than all organic essential oils, but for me it smells pretty good. I enjoy the scent.

I haven't tried Creamo and don't imagine that I will try it.

I agree with the Cremo. It really doesn't lather, but it's super slick so it makes a great pre-shave. Plus you only need a little pea sized amount before you lather up. I normally only 1 pass shave because my face just doesn't tolerate multi pass shaves, but if I use Cremo first, I can do a 2 or 3 pass.
