What's new

Couple amusing finds

Hiya,

I have a few fairly recent acqusitions to mention. These have come from various estate sales, as have other little treasures over the years. Old fragrances aren't usually something to be considered worth much to anyone, unless it's a well known high end perfume house. Prices for most items will be extremely reasonable, and in the past I have found some amazing things for just a few bucks. Nice to specialize in a blind item...........sorta like shaving crap actually.

First pic is some older version of the Dior 'Eau Savage' EdT, and has Pour Homme on the box. Second pic is an older bottle of Aramis........unsure of when it was made. Heh, I also bought an unused 25ml atomizer bottle of some Joy EdT for my daughter. It's one of her favorite frags.

I hope you enjoy the pics,

Martin

Great finds, Martin. Do you know if the Eau Sauvage smells any different from the current production? (Which I like a lot, by the way) :thumbup1:

Same question about the Aramis, a great classic scent, is it different from today's scent? I have some of this, and it doesn't seem different from what I remember in the 70's, but memory can deceive.

Hi Randy,

I can't help you with any Eau Savage comparison, having never sniffed the current version. I did a little reading up on the stuff I have, and some people at Basenotes thought it was different (in a good way) than the stuff made now.

I do have the current version of Aramis. Rob (The Knize) was nice enough to send out a sample a while back, so I can compare them both. I'd say there's a difference and I prefer one over the other. One has richer notes in general, and a more spicy and mellow drydown. The other has a sorta flat spot, if that makes sense at all. Heh, I won't tell you which one's which.

Best thing is to pm me and I'll send out some decants of the older versions. As you know, that's the only way you're gonna get the right answer.

i like the current production more. i have a 50ml vintage version of eau sauvage and it kinda smells like generic old man stuff. i know i know there's no such thing as an old man scent or i'm just not man enough to wear blah blah but that's what my nose associates with it. the current one sparkles like champagne right out of the bottle.

I love a good estate sale score. Got me a half (glass) bottle of Mennen Cooling Blue Skin Bracer this weekend for 50 cents.
