Could use a little advice on new cologne, please

Hello all. I ahve been using John Varvatos Artisan for the last year. I would love to find something similar but less expensive if possible. Any suggestions? About 98% of the colognes mentioned i have never heard of so I may be a little slow on this one.

What about Artisan do you most like?
Citrus/amber/wood/musk are fairly common notes in perfumery, but if you could let us know a bit more about why you like Artisan I might be able to suggest something.

According to Fragrantica, I Am King of Miami smells similar, but I've never smelled that one.

This sounds silly, but I felt like the Artisan was a clean, manly smell. For the longest time I wore things like Lacoste, Polo Sport, Armani, CK, etc. I just got tired of smelling like I was in my early 20s so I picked out a different, somewhat adult manly scent and loved the Artisan.
