Coticule love... show off your rock

I picked up this Barber Size 2x4 inch Old Rock awhile back. Cleaned up a bit, it looks very nice. I haven't had a chance to rub a razor on it yet..

Very nice Bill perfect size

Got a 150x50mm les latneuses hybrid direct from the mine yesterday. Lapped the yellow side completely but haven’t finished the hybrid side yet - it’s extremely resilient to lapping!! Images are pre-lap

A stone I will never let go of.
Been on the hunt for a 5 x 2.5” and haven’t managed to score. Manages to score this instead.
A vintage microtome stone that arrived virtually unused with original factory bevels still in place.
Would love to know what it was used for in its day.
Measures 11 6/8” x 2 5/8”
Medium speed with slurry and medium - slow with water (despite the large surface area) but leaves a terrific edge and is a joy to use, paired with a fast slurry stone it is perfect.
It isn’t super hard but at the harder end of the scale, and has replaced my 10” workhorse as dilucot stone of choice.

Shown alongside a recent purchase from Ardennes for scale, a little La Veinette in 115 x 60mm (4.5 x 2.4” roughly)
Which is another little gem, easy peasy coti edge, a little softer than I hoped however.

Very nice les lat. I found it easier to lap the hybrid side dry on wet and dry paper. When you add water to the mix it becomes extremely hard. Start with P280

Another microtome stone. This one was fairly dished when I received it and took a good while to get flat.
Measures 10” x 2.25” with the coti layer varying from 0.25” to a shade under 0.5”
Coti is speckled with reddish dots, and has some hazy blueish spots on the surface.

Very fine and slow with just water with a lovely smooth feedback, and cuts quickly with slurry with a fine abrasive feeling. Another perfect stone for slurry dilutions

A really easy stone to use, as most of these old microtome stones seem to be.

Looks red enough to me that I'd give it a try just for curiosities sake, but I agree, side by side, not so much.

These Microtome hones are coming out of the woodwork lately. Nice score Robby.

This one just in from Belgium. Rob Celis cut this natural combo to order from a piece of La Nouvelle Veine. 175x75x25mm Main Stone with a 75x25mm Slurry Stone. Both pieces fit nicely in the box.

Much easier to lap than the ark was. The colour really shines when wet. The photos don’t quite capture the depth of the surface.
