Any tobacco works well with a corn cob pipe. Are you new to pipe smoking? If so, try Carter Hall, Prince Albert or Capt. Black in the white pouch for OTC drugstore blends. Avoid heavy aromatics at first. If you have a local brick and mortar tobacconist, see what home blends they have to offer.
Just about all tobacco smokes wonderfully in a corn cob pipe, however a Burley based OTC (over the counter) like Carter Hall, Prince Albert, Half and Half, Granger, or Sir Walter Raleigh is hard to beat in a cob!!
Capt. Black white has been my favorite otc blend so far in my short time of pipe smoking. That being said, I have had zero trouble with any of the otc tobaccos just taste preference.
