When I started the thread, I was asking the question from a philosophical point of view. Both with brushes and razors we have a lot of franken-gear. At what point does the monster lose the right to be called by the original name?

In my own collection, for brushes, I have the TGN/Rooney, a TGN/Kent, and a Maggard/WhippedDog (Knots listed first in all three cases). For razors, I have several heads grafted onto handles from Maggard, Ikon, IB and WCS.

Personally, I consider the brush knots and the razor heads to be the stars of the show, and the handles to be the supporting cast in both cases, but I notice that vendors tend to go the opposite way (the re-knotted Rooney or a Maggard MR7 for example).

So I raised the question: How do you name these hybrids/mongrels/mutts?
