Contrasting stitching, brown or neutral polish?

I recently bought a pair of Cole Haan loafers (Tucker Venetian, French Roast). They are dark brown shoes with light brown stitching. Since the stitching is not the same color as the leather, should I use brown or neutral polish? Will neutral polish cover scuffs?

Neutral polish, but it won't cover scuffs. (Have some coloured shoe cream on hand to spot-treat any scuffs, as it'll return a fair bit of pigment to the leather, and then top that off with all-over neutral polish.)

... assuming, of course, that you want to keep the contrast in the stitching.

Exactly. And, I suppose, assuming the shoes at issue are intended to be shiny. Having trouble imagining shoes with contrasting stitching that take a high gloss shine!

I do not really know what folks do about polishing "spectators." I assume it is a pain!
