Containers to Mill Shave Soap and Sticks Into

What do you mill shave soaps (esp. shave sticks) into, and where do you buy them?

Please post whatever you use. Personally, I'm looking for something that isn't plastic and has a lid, but I'd also like to see the solutions you've come up with.

I use ramekins because they have a nice simple look, are stackable, and have a really nice heft to them.

Lids, who needs lids? I don't have lids on any of triple-milled soups and they have all fared very well.

Really? I thought you lose the scent if you leave soaps uncovered?

Melt-and-pour soaps (QED, Mama Bear, etc) are much more heavily scented and more volatile than a triple-milled soap, so I would not leave one of these soaps uncovered for very long at all. I do have all of my melt-and-pour soaps in containers that I can seal.

I suppose if a triple-milled soap was left long enough it would eventually lose its scent. I have read a number of threads regarding vintage pucks of soap (Old Spice, Yardley, etc) that no longer had much scent on the surface, but after using the soap for a while the scent returned. I have a puck of Tabac that is well over a year old and had been uncovered since day 1 ... it is still borderline obnoxious.

It's ok Tex Bil, but you when you get it as bad as me, you con get these Ziploc containers from Walmart, 3 for $2.35 last time I checked. I guess I bought so many that Walmart dropped the price on these, I think they used to be $2.52. The also hold 2 cups or 16 oz, so you can also use it as a bowl.

In Australia woolworths/safeway sells some nice little screw top containers, about the size of a TOBS cream, that do the job nicely :)
(theyre in the Plastic ware section).

WOW! I'm not at your selection level (yet) but certainly understand the economy of your plan! I actually have the same Ziplocs in my kitchen but thought they would be less than efficient for the space available to stack them. But hell, at that price maybe I should find room!

Awesome, thank you for the info.
