Conditioning leather shoes

Looking at the shoe shine sticky in this forum, they talk about conditioning and feeding the leather.

Could neatfoots oil be used on leather shoes for this purpose?

I use Saphir Renovateur for dress shoes/boots, and Obenauf's LP for casual & work shoes/boots.

Never tried neatfoot's though.

it may darken the leather, like most oils will. So you'd be safe using it on black leathers, but I wouldn't recommend it on anything else.

They are black shoes.

Thank you for the information. Will try it on the tongue and see how it works.

Neatsfoot oil and Mink oil are both good, but they can both darken leather - not a problem with black shoes. If you try Neatsfoot, apply it sparingly.

But for me, the best conditioner is Saphir Renovateur.
