Conditioner

So I wanted to get some Prell, and noticed they also have a conditioner. Tell me, do you NEED conditioner? This is something I have always wondered about myself. I use Brylcreem or Groom and Clean just about daily, and I've heard those essentially keep-in conditioners. What is your opinion?

Hmm, I find my hair does fine without conditioner, meaning it's not dry. So I assume I don't need it.

It seems like Groom and Clean and also Brylcreem are essentially conditioning agents, so I'll just get the shampoo.

I've always been anti-conditioner/tonic/pomade because it makes my hair and scalp feel oily. But earlier this year I discovered Master Well Comb Hair Dressing. Appleton Barber Supply sent me a bottle by mistake, and when I brought it to their attention they said just keep it. A tiny amount worked into the hair (wet or dry) adds body without any hint of oiliness. I will certainly order more of this from Appleton when the time comes, but the 32oz bottle they gave me is going to last for years.

I have ridiculously thick hair that suffers without conditioner. As strange as it sounds, I found that Axe had a very effective and cheap conditioner that used to be easy to find. It seems that they've discontinued it now. Now I use American Crew Citrus Mint--it's a good balance between between "heavy" enough to moisturize my hair without being so heavy that it leaves it greasy.

That must smell AWESOME!

I shampoo and condition with baking soda these days. If I need extra conditioning I pour beer over my head. My hair is pretty darn short, but baking soda strips the essential fatty acids off my scalp, totally gets rid of dandruff, seems to soften the beard a bit too. I figure if the baking soda is damaging my hair, it surely isn't noticeable.

I do apply Shikai Everyday Conditioner on my face right before jumping out of the shower and then start lathering up for my shave. That pretty mild stuff.
