Compression socks

~20 years ago in a golf store in Japan I bought a pair of compression socks that had sleeves for each toe and only went to the thickest part of your foot extending back from the toes.

Used them for racquetball, inside of another sock and with my smallest and tightest pair of New Balance sneakers.

They didn't last very long, but it felt like I had tires with camber in and toe in...like you were always gripping the ground just a little bit. I really felt faster responding to the serve with those things on and I'd love to find them again.

I've seen these and also what you see now on the course is compression leggings. Personally I never put too much emphasis on attire other than shoes. I tried these when I think it was Desoto came out with the concept years ago and didn't feel a difference but a lot of times is just the feel of that extra support mentally that makes the difference in someones performance. If it feels good while using it then use it.:001_smile

I personally use 5.11 socks. Same idea, but they have compression zones. Didn't really think much about socks until I started wearing these and felt the difference!

I'm a frequent traveler (million-miler) and see ads for these all the time, as well as in airport shops around the world. I used to think these compression socks were gimmicky but tried a pair some time ago.

They work.. you don't get leg soreness and can even cross your legs (when you're lucky enough to be in business) without any numbness.. they're a small investment and well worth it if you're a frequent traveler. I suspect they'd be as beneficial to someone who has circulation problems in their legs, as well.

Any idea if they help with exercise? I'm doing an endurance event in late July and I am looking for any help I can get.

I'm going to look at a pair of these soon. I've been plagued with Achilles and Soleus issues, well forever. I'm hoping these might help.

I haven't tried compression socks, but have run a marathon. I can tell you that from that sort of distance my feet must have swelled about a size up. I would imagine that compression socks would combat this problem and you would finish a race with your feet approx the size they were when you began. Give them a go and tell us how they feel.
