Commodore X2

Does anyone use the Commodore X2 for creams? I would like to ask some questions to someone who has experience with this brush. Thanks!

Thanks, Antoine. Saw that one and it is a very nice review, but think the X3 is larger than I want to go. Think then X2 is more the size I would like to talk about.

I use both the x2 and x3, original Simpsons, often in my rotation and go back and forth between soaps and creams. I'll be happy to answer your questions to the best of my own experience with these redoutable little performers.

I've used an X3. Great brush, and my only complaint about it that I wish it was smaller! The X2 should be an all-around fantastic brush, I think.

Hunter, you did pm me about your X3!! Is it in best? Pretty close to opting for the Colonel in best, but still considering. Thanks for the reminder! Refresh my memory; do you face lather creams with your X3? Would the X2 be better for that? Soft enough

I am going to be gone for a week, but will check back here when I get home.

Yep, it's in Best.

I only face lather, and yes it works well with both soaps and creams. Really a great brush, and one of my favorite handles.

I have an X2 Best and it is, as always, a quality piece of equipment. My only sense of dissatisfaction is the hindsight knowledge that I should have gotten an X3, as I find this one a little small for me. Solid mid-range performer from Simpson's.

Chris, fyi I got a picture from a gent on smf who has a Simpson Commodore
X2, labelled as such, that is the advertised size of an X1. I kept getting confused when he said his "X2" was much smaller than his Colonel X2L. It certainly is! Maybe you have one of those. Think his is an original Simpson.

All this info being passed via pm, what about us who want to know this good stuff. No whispering allowed.

Not really that much whispering going on! Just trying to get inputs on the Commodore so I can compare it to the Colonel for a probable brush buy. Mentioned pm-ing folks because I didn't want to be long winded and repetitive on the forum. And had been having a hard time finding people who used Commodores for comparison purposes. Turned up more since yesterday than I had earlier! My current thought is that the Commodore is likely to be close to my B&B Essential V2, and probably the shorter-lofted Colonel X2L would be sufficiently different to give me the kind of brush I would like to try next to face lather creams. But I am still mulling! Had thought about the Ehsan, but this afternoon my wife said no!

Peace in the house is much more important than any stupid shaving brush. Trust me, Darjeeling knows these things. I think that Colonel looks damn nice. I too have been eyeballing it. If its not to your taste, someone on the forum will grab it in a second. I don't think you can go wrong. Perfect loft - 46mm, perfect knot size - 23mm. Perfect Grade - Best. Let us know.

Thank you, Darjeeling! Appreciate the input! And good point about the "secrecy". When I started the post I was trying to think of a way not to loose track of people's comments; thought that doing it by pm would make it easier to keep a record. But then I discovered how to bookmark a post, which is what I have done. Thus solves my record problem, and makes more info available to everybody.
