Combining different razor parts

Good afternoon everyone

I bought a Fatip piccolo a little while back which I never really enjoyed. This morning I look the base plate and attached it to the handle and top of my EJ DE 89. Strangely enough it performed well past my expectations. A nick free 3 pass BBS shave with an already well used blade :) (Bolzano had done about 15 passes prior to this morning) In the past I had used the piccolo with an Ikon bulldog handle and not enjoyed it either. Who knows maybe the EJ top gives the razor a better angle.

This is my input for the day here

regards

I enjoy changing things up as well, use the old type cap on my Swedish Swing baseplate, New Improved Tuckaway, Old Type, 2013 r41, and Darwin Standard when I want to use a different handle. Use the British tech cap on my LC and SC News as well as British Tech.

I have a Fatip (if I can find it) and an EJ89L ... I'll have to try this.

You hit a lucky combo there. Not every top and bottom plate can match up if they come from different razors, Even if they can screw together with a handle, the curve of the two pieces often makes the blade mount at some weird angles, if it will mount at all.

My current go-to razor is a Stahly head on a Tradere handle.

I love Frankenrazors, but I have a secret fear that after I switch pieces around between several different razors, I won't be able to put the originals back together again.

I try not to get them mixed up. I would never be able to sort them all out again if that happened
