Cologne Awareness

I work for a university and follow a number of the students on twitter. We have a trolley that moves students around campus. Tweeted this afternoon by a female undergrad:

"Someone on the trolley is wearing axe. Gross."

Wonder if she'd comment on my Hamman Bouquet if I was riding the trolley today: "Some old man smells like roses and baby oil. Awesome."

Nice! I've heard a fair amount of comments from women (in person) to the effect of 'I don't know why they think we like Axe...., it sucks' but it's pretty funny to see someone actually tweet it.

Trolley? What is it you speak of?

By the way it's called Lynx in the UK, and smells vulgar and nauseating. Teenagers bathe in it and then wonder why they don't get laid.

I hear this all the time. All the girls I know think Axe smells like rotting ****... harsh, acidic, really offensive to the senses. Personally smells not quite like urea to me, but ... yeah, it's choking and has an unpleasant harshness to it.

Introducing a girl to a chest full of Tabac might end in a night of romance. A chest full of VOS ...

...

Perhaps I'll pass though. I up and left the bar last time I was wearing Tabac. A (rather airheaded) girl and two of her friends came onto me in a not-so-subtle way (I did not invite their hands there). It was cute, actually kind of exciting; but I found it a bit invasive on such short notice and just walked out on those three.

Maybe that's why Axe works so well for some guys. Keeps them at bay long enough to have a decent conversation while the smell dies down; then once they can stand to breath the air around you, they suddenly realize the only reason they stuck by for the past 2 hours is because they're so damn attracted to your charming personality and rock-hard body.

Good one!

Oh come on. I'm in college but that doesn't mean I HAVE to lay it down on anything with boobs. I'm not saying I'm against getting around the block a few times; just there needs to be more substance, you know?

It's notable most of my friends are girls (yeah, that I'm not sleeping with); and I don't have many guy friends at all because I can't stand 'em. Most guys I meet are obsessed with one night stands, and talk about and treat girls like trash. If that's all you want, there's plenty of stuff you can buy all over the Internet, you know... ~_~

I had my first 'aha' moment ever the other day since I got into wetshaving and colognes.

My boss came by my cubicle - suddenly I started wondering "what's that smell? I recognize that."

Two seconds later: "Cool Water".

I should have asked, but I guess I'm just not at that stage yet - at least to ask a male what he's wearing :001_rolle

My prior manager was leaving the smell of sandalwood wherever he walked one day, just in a path. It faded over about 5-10 minutes, such that you could track him without seeing him... or at least I could.

Mind you I'm the same guy that walks into a college math class and identifies who's been in and out already by the varied smells of body odors hanging in the air (i.e. I can fingerprint some people based on how they smell). My nose is somewhat sensitive.

I have daughters - I'd prefer no one was laying anything down around young girls these days.

Heh I don't have (or want) kids but I'm of the mind that responsible adults should be able to handle that kind of thing responsibly too.

I find it amusing most fathers choke on the idea of their daughter being alone with a boy for more than 2 minutes; while in the exact same day the girl's mother is like, "... you better not let your father find out, I'm serious. He'll blow his top." Then again, moms like that tend to ask their daughters more invasive questions; dads tend to take things at face value and quietly observe while asking themselves questions like "does he have tattoos?" and "what brand of aftershave does he wear?"

Of course this is all speculative on my part. I have almost no guy friends, and spend most of my social life hanging out with girls, so that's pretty much where I get my view of the world. The guys I meet are really bad at picking out colognes that the girls I know actually like, so no big loss.
