Col. Conk Bay Rum: Probably the Start of SSAD

My first (and heretofore only) shave soap was the C&E Sandalwood. After picking up a few creams here and there, and wanting to get through some of my stock before going hog-wild, the other day I decided to pick up another soap and settled on Col. Conk's Bay-Rum.

It arrived today (oh happy day!) and I just shaved with it. Wow, really nice. The bay-rum smell is really pleasant; I wish the scent had been a little stronger, but no matter. What did matter was the great shave I got with it. It lathered up quite a bit and provided a lot of lubrication. I put a glob of lather in my fingers to see how it felt - like rich, shaving goodness.

The unfortunate thing? Now I need (not want, need) some bay-rum after shave and am now itching to try some more scents/soaps/creams. At least my addiction isn't to illicit drugs, right?

It was this same simple SS that got me started. I figured if this cheap stuff provides such a great shave, what else am I missing out on?

I recall making Col. Conk's bay rum a part of my SSAD back in August. It was and still is a pretty great soap. Great smell, easy to lather.

I too am wanting some of that Aftershave, but my AD's are tame enough that i don't mind waiting for my current stock to run out before buying more.

Col. Conk's bay rum was the first soap i bought , reminds me good memories.
Reminds me when i didn't knew how to use a DE properly also

Soaps are the best in my book. See if your local Walgreens carries the bay rum aftershave by pinaud. It is an inexpensive but good bay rum. If you like almond try the Conks Almond. For stronger scents consider Mama Bears and QED for soaps.

Yes, that's exactly the aftershave I'll have to get. The gym I went to this past summer had it and I used it a couple of times in the morning, smelled great.
As much as I would love to get the QED bay rum, I think I'm going to work through some of my almost finished creams first - once those are done, I'll 'treat' myself with another soap.

Love the Col Conk Bay Rum. I wouldn't recommend the amber though, completely different to lather with.

Second the Col Conks Bay Rum. It is a light scent, but ohh, what a wonderful scent. Such a great soap at a cheap price. Too bad more Brick and Motar stores don't carry it.

I recently sampled the Col. Conk products.

Amber - nice, didn't care for the scent, but it lathered great for me.
Lime - lathered poorly, smelled even worse.
Bay Rum - nice scent, lathered well
Almond, nice lather, not fond of the almond smell

As far as the AS goes, they are too expensive and don't smell that great.
