Chubby 2

Not having much luck with my chubby 2 bowl lathering with soap (mamma bear Ice). Any suggestions?

My first suggestion would be to face lather with it. That's not meant as a smart a** response, the brush just seems made to use that way. A Chubby needs a lot of product as it is so dense. Whatever method you use, keep loading longer than you think is necessary. If you do choose to try face lathering, you don't necessarily have to load the brush for three or four passes. There's no reason not to go back to the puck for more lather.

+1 on AFGs response.
I love mine for face lathering, it needs a good soak (thirsty) and a lot of product (hungry).
I also find that when you are thinking that its not got much lather, give it a gentle squeeze as there is tonnes of lather in there.
As with all new stuff, try and enjoy getting to know it :)

What do you use with yours soap or cream?

Hi! I use my Chubby 2 with either soap or cream! No problems at all. A really good soak and about two "thumbnails" of cream! With soap: load the brush until you cant see down the hair looking into the brush.. I hope this will make sense! Good luck :)

+1 That thing is DENSE, so you need much more product than you would imagine!

I give mine two to three times the cream I use for my mid or smaller size brushes. Give it more than you think you need and get ready to add. When you have it right it will reward you. Not a cheap brush to own and operate.

This brush was made for face lathering soaps. Chubby 2 in Best is one of the finest brushes I've ever used for that purpose. Chubby 2 in Super is even better. After buying a Chubby 2 in Super, I pretty much lost all interest in acquiring additional brushes.

I also found that while great out of the box, the brush really takes about 20 shaves to open up and come into its own. It also helps if you completely soak the brush (in a mug) for about 5 minutes before shaving and then shake firmly about three times before putting it to the puck.

I guess I will give my dirty bird scuttle a rest! Works great thanks guys for all your help!

+111 for Al's answer. Chubbies and Rooney Stubby XL's need more product than less dense brushes. Also, remember to squeeze your brush because there is a Large amount of cream that these dense brushes tenaciously hold on to. At least enough for one more pass.

2-band or 3-band Super? I think Simpson labels both as Super. Even Manchurian is labeled Super on the box, or at least mine was.

I only use creams and gave up on bowl lathering with my Chubby 2. It consumes too much cream, and it is so dense that it just does not allow the flow of water and air required for good lathering. I then turned to face lathering, and the Chubby 2 excels at it.

I used to have same problem with hard soaps and I increased the loading time 3 times and it works.
First I use my cliniqu facial soap with my chubby to scruband soften my face and by the time I load the actual shaving soap the brush is nice and soaft and well hydrated
