Chubby 2 Woes

Yesterday I noticed there is some separation between my Chubby 2's knot and the handle. It would seem like the knot might be coming undone. I lightly pulled on the knot, and it did not give. Is this a case of it starting to come undone, or is it normal on a chubby? I checked my other brushes and they don't have this gap between the knot and the handle. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

To put yourself at ease you might want to contact the vendor and describe your concern. Sending that picture will also help. If the vendor doesn't seem to help contact Simpson themselves.

I received a new CH2 a while back. When it arrived the knot was completely out of the handle. Ouch!

On that brush, the glue was on the bottom of the knot only. There was no glue on the sides...at all.

If this, "glue on the bottom" approach, is representative of the method that Simpson uses, that could explain the gap you have.

As long as the knot is secure in the handle (meaning adequate glue on the bottom of the knot) then I think you have nothing to be concerned over.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the advice all, I really appreciate it!

I just emailed Simpson's, I'll let you know what they say.

Mark @ vulfix responded to my email! He said there is nothing to worry about, this is just the way they set some of their knots. However, he also STRONGLY cautioned against pulling on the knot!!!

Big thanks to all those who responded to this thread, and Mark at Vulfix for getting back to me so late in the day.

I wonder how many people can't resist the temptation to pull on the knot, just to see how firmly it is held in place... It's almost like facing a red button marked, "Do Not Press."
