What's new

chubby 2 manchurian badger butterscotch

I have been very good, keeping my addictions in check.. until I saw this on the Simpsons website.

I wet myself, went funny all over, and now I'm in love...

The butterscotch handles have not grown on me yet. I understand the historical significance of them but I just would rather have a handle made of something else. Of course if they continue to put knots like that in those handles..... I could warm up to a butterscotch someday.

I love Simpsons butterscotch. It's slightly pale which isn't very authentic but not intense like others that makes it look extra synthetic.

Plus Manchurian hair is out of this world.

My manchurian chubby 3 butterscotch arrived today...will try it out this week ...the butterscotch is 'different'...I am lookign at it side by side with it's vintage sibling and I personally prefer the vintage colour over this new one...however, it IS a unique piece and stands out from the usual ivory/white handles...

Agreed Chief...but I've been looking at the vintage vs. new side by side for a while now...the colour on the vintage IMHO can't be beat...considering how impossibly hard it is to find a vintage brush in usable condition...the new one is the next best thing...

Incidentally, my manchurian also has more scritch than any other chubby 2-band I currently own...from vintage to new...It's quite similar scritch wise to the vintage manchurian I owned till recently...except that the vintage had started to soften up at the tips from continuous use...interesting knot...

I am Jonesing for a vintage Simpson Butterscotch brush, but usability is a requirement for me, and as you say, that's hard to find. I completely agree that the new ones aren't in the same class, either aesthetically or supernaturally (I'm pretty sure the old ones must have magical properties).

The only Manchurian brush I have is a fairly new Butterscotch T3 that isn't completely broken in yet. I like it a lot, and the Butterscotch Chubby 2s still available have been calling seductively like telepathic sirens. I'm a little concerned, however, that the what I like in the T3 might be excessive in a Chubby 2, especially if the density is greater.

No brush has magical qualities Chief...the vintage ones just have that aged patina to them that's very attractive :001_tt1:

The Chubby CH3 manchurian butterscotch I recieved today is dense...very dense. I would say it's denser than my 2-band Chubby CH3 and less dense than my 3-banded Super Chubby CH3...comparing modern, post-vulfix acquisition phase. I have them lined up side by side and the difference is quite obvious...

So far I've just been trying to get rink of the badger stink...really bad in the new chubby and the density ain't helping! :001_tt2:

Au contraire. You just haven't figured out how to use them.

Ya know, they're kinda like short-handled brooms. And I'm pretty sure they used alchemists to produce the vintage Butterscotch.

As I recall, my T3 also had a highly recalcitrant funk. (I just googled to see if that combination of words had ever been used before, and yes, it has.)

I love the butterscotch and have bought several of the Manchurians lately including this one. I love the hair on these brushes. I will say however they are about the smelliest brush out of the box of anything I've owned.

I really love butterscotch--candies, topping for ice cream, brush handles... Mmmm!

Here's my only butterscotch brush (until I get that Simpson beauty!):

That's nothin', the price tag will make you soil yourself.

You ain't kiddin' .... Some of the 2-band pricing, especially in exotic handles, seems to me like they're taking the p#ss...

Nice looking brushes though and I DO covet them.

I wish they would make some out of Catalin so I could develop my own, real butterscotch patina over time.

I have a Manchurian Chubby 3 and I am contemplating a Manchurian Chubby 2. Anybody have both? If so, can you describe the differences & similarities between them?

You just have to look and consider the possibility of re-knotting maybe. Check out some of the ones I've picked up here including the post re-knotting pics.

The vintage ones ARE magical BTW. I look more handsome after using one and about 20 years younger!
