Chubby 1 questions

Hi all,

After trying a Simfix Chubby 2 in Best, I found the brush too large and too soft for me. I'm a face latherer and was hoping the Chubby would be more scrubby. It was when new, but soon softened up after a few uses.

So, I'm still intrigued by the Chubby, and feel I should have gone for the CH1.

I presume the CH1 would be more scrubby due to its shorter loft?

Also, I'm not sure whether to go for Best or Super. My previous Best was incredibly soft after break in, I certainly don't want any softer than that. Will the Super be firmer than the Best, with softer tips? I want firm shafts with soft tips, I presume Simpsons' current Best grade isn't as firm as the Super?

Anyone own (or has used) a Simfix Chubby 1 in both Best and Super who could comment on how they compare?

Many thanks!

John

I only have a Chubby 1 in best but from what I gather the super is softer. Another big consideration is knot shape. The best's as of late from Vulfix have been more bulb shaped and the supers more fan like. I'd like my brush more if it had a more traditional fan shape, so I wish I bought a super.

I have both and the super hair is quite a bit more densely packed than the best resulting in a scrubbier brush. (It is almost too dense, IMO). Both of mine are post-Vulfix. There seems to be bit of insonsistency with the Simpson brushes. I love them ... but my two ch1 brushes may not be generally representative of the differences in hair grades.

That's interesting! Thanks for the info. I'm homing in on what will be my one and only brush and I think I'm getting closer to making a decision!

Hmm... intriguing! I think I'd prefer more fan shaped.

I like the idea of the Super being softer, but only the tips. I want the shafts to have a bit of backbone so I get a bit of massage.

Get a 2 band T2. Haven't tried one myself, but from what I've heard, it sounds like what you're looking for.
Other people should weigh in on this though
