Chromium Oxide Sources

Anybody know where I can get some chromium oxide strop paste?
Handamerican carried it, but has been under construction for ages.

Some good possible sources of chromium oxide compounds (as well as other polishing compounds, pastes and/or powders) will be found amongst: lapidary & gem polishing and jeweler's suppliers, knife makers, woodworker's suppliers and even auto body and metal finishing suppliers.

I believe ClassicShaving also has it. Tis their green paste.

Only the Covington #2 is 0.5 micron. That is the size you are looking for. Just contact Keith via email at handamerican and he will sell you the right stuff. All the rest of those are to large in size.

An alternative to Chrome Oxide paste is to use a green acrylic paint using Cr2O3 as a pigment - available in tubes in most paint stores. Paint 2 or 3 coats on an old strop, then sand with medium emery paper (european grade 400), clean with a vacuum cleaner to make sure there are no emery particles left and you will have a green pasted strop which works better than any grease-based green paste (the abrasive particles are fixed to the strop which seems to improve their polishing capacity) and will last for years without having to repaste.
